This Appellations chart is presented here, so you can have an overall impression of what kind grape varieties are relevant to the certain areas and in what sort of wines they can be vinified at its best according to Italian wine law. However nowadays there is a vast number of becoming-the-rule exceptions, which are classified as IGT Toscana (or IGT Maremma Toscana, which applies for Grosseto province). Sometimes labeling wine with IGT can be even greater solution for a winemaker, who knows his land very well, who sees exactly what kind of grape varieties suit his terroir at its best and who perceives the right kind of vinification technique to be used in the cellars.
